Ubuntu 12.04 install webmin

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely. 1. using tm directory

cd /tmp 

2. download webmin using wget

wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.650.tar.gz

3. extract webmin files

gunzip webmin-1.650.tar.gz
tar xf webmin-1.650.tar

4. install webmin

cd webmin-1.650
./setup.sh /usr/local/webmin
Web server port (default 10000):  
Login name (default admin): root
Login password: 
Password again: 
Use SSL (y/n): y
Start Webmin at boot time (y/n): y
Copying files to /usr/local/webmin ..

Creating web server config files..

Creating access control file..

Inserting path to perl into scripts..

Creating start and stop scripts..

Copying config files..

Configuring Webmin to start at boot time..

Creating uninstall script /var/www/webmin/uninstall.sh ..

Changing ownership and permissions ..

Running postinstall scripts ..
