Ubuntu 14.04 Upgrade Mysql 5.5 to 5.6

Ubuntu 14.04 upgrade mysql from 5.5 to 5.6

When you are trying to upgrade your mysql from 5.5 to 5.6 and most of time you googled, the result will be as simple as three commands

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install mysql-server-5.6

I end up doing the following on one of my vps box, and then I have to install extra dependencies.

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install mysql-client-core-5.6
apt-get install mysql-client-5.6
apt-get install mysql-server-5.6

You probably need to do so while you seeĀ one of the following warnings

Reading package lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-server-5.6 : Depends: mysql-client-5.6 (>= 5.6.33-0ubuntu0.14.04.1) but it is not going to be installed
